All birds are derived from dinosaurs. The Cassowary is hazardous as the claws easily can gut aperson. Sadly there there have been deaths, in one case a person on a morning walk met one coming out of the scrub, and it attacked tearing the person open to die on the spot, observed by others a bit further back on the road edge. A totally separate issue, todays 19 Sept Sunday paper has mention that Queensland gov is about to change a number of parks and areas names to proginal Aborininal names. Fraser Island will soon be changed. I do not have the article at hand right now, so sorry I can not indicate its new name now.
