After the defeat of the Soviet union and its eventual demise, none of these "advances and excellencies" were found or visible anywhere.

  4.  @thomasmaughan4798  Fact is during the Soviet era, the greatest scientists in that fortunately dead country were NOT russians. That explains why after the death of that country, russia became a desert of innovations. Today, the GDP of South Korea is superior to the GDP of russia.
