@chrismorrison1955 It's because of them russia has not reconstituted the soviet union since 1999. It's because of US so many countries are still soverain independent coutries; Finlande, Poland, Baltic countries, Ukraine etc...

@nataliakalinina3883 No time to play with kids. I lived through that period. The closest thing to the Soviet union today remains the Russian federation. Poland, Ukraine, Moldova, the Baltic states etc have all moved along and modernized themselves politically and economically.

@chrismorrison1955 Ukraine gave up nukes in return of a recognition and respect of its borders. No specific term says it's for security garanty from the USA. If it was the case, then Ukraine should have entered NATO like the Baltic states, Poland etc...

@Thetequilashooter1 Doesn't matter the state of Ukrainian nukes then. Had it nukes in whatever form today, russia would not have invaded. And, yes, Ukraine needed and needs them as a deterrent. Nuclear deterrence works.
