@lorenk.775 It's written into the tax code. I have 5 rentals and $1MM in passive private placements. Depreciation and bonus depreciation. I earn $60-100K net on my real estate every year. But on paper it looks like I break even. And people wonder why Trump paid little to no taxes.. he had a good accountant who did everything by the book! Democrats wrote all those tax laws that's the irony here.

@lorenk.775 Doesn't matter. If your income is even or net negative, you also pay $0 to the state. The only chance to pay a tax is if you sell - and even then if you do a 1031 exchange you don't pay any tax.

@cisium1184 80% of my nest egg is tied to cash flowing real estate in the US. I legally pay $0 on my real estate income. Am I screwed?
