  2. The problem with the Democratic Party is that they have always been about getting power. Power is, at its very basis, the ability to make other people's decisions for them. So not only to Democrats feel the urge to occupy the positions of power, they have the same urge to increase the power of government so that they have more power, which they rationalize by claiming that if we are allowed to make these decisions for ourselves, we will choose the "wrong" options. It also leads to people within the party having more control over the direction of the party than the rank and file; hence "superdelegates" in past party conventions, and the candidate for 2024 being hand-picked by party mandarins who clearly felt that the hoi polloi would choose the "wrong" candidate. It's looking more and more like the attitude of these party leaders is an example of the Dunning-Kruger effect.
