  1. It seems like we came to programming in the same way, in my case getting detoured by twenty years as an electronics maintenance tech for the US military. But I started with putzing around in BASIC in 1980, getting into assembler a couple years later, and then into C a few years after that, and working with POV-Ray for the better part of a decade, before completing my degree and finally securing my first paid position.
