  1. Electrons emit photons when they move from a quantum state to a quantum state with a lower energy. If the electrons can pass through a conductor without experiencing any changes in the energy of the quantum states, then they lose no energy and so there is no resistance. So the key to superconductivity is to create a large mass of material whose quantum states have identical energies throughout.
