  4. The insinuation is that they are closing their doors because the neighborhood has more people of color. As if the most woke of the big-box stores would do that. Of course, being the most woke of the big-box stores makes you even more vulnerable to pressure group warfare. Once you paid the Dane-geld you never get rid of the Dane.

  5. The fantasy-land thinking started decades ago on the Left Coast. Because each step created problems that could easily be swept under the rug by a press dedicated to getting Democrats elected at any cost, growing numbers of politicians got the idea that they could indulge their fantasies without consequence, and growing numbers of voters were on the public dime and voted to keep the checks rolling out.

  6. Just about every rural county in a state with a major city in it feels this way. Most of Texas would love to get rid of Austin, Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio. A great deal of California would love to be rid of SF and LA. Western Massachusetts is nothing like Boston. And so on for Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, New York State, etc.
