  1. So many of the liberties we once enjoyed have been taken because of a small handful who abuse them. But if one of the government's powers, of dubious need anyway, is abused left, right, and center, it's somehow never an argument for doing away with it.

  2. This is why criminal defense at public expense should not be means-tested. An innocent person should not have to pay to stay out of jail.
