  1. Some decades ago, the band Genesis held a small-venue concert whose location escapes me. Only 500 tickets were sold and the venue was selling them, not any third party. The line was enormous. Just before ticket sales started, a limo pulled up, and the three band members (Tony Banks, Michael Rutherford, and Phil Collins) got out, manned the ticket booth, and handled the sale of each and every ticket.

  2. There was a British band (whose name escapes me) who had a rider in their tour contract that the ticket price would not exceed a certain fixed amount. One night they learned that the venue had charged an extra pound (this was in the UK). When the show began, they announced their contract stipulation, identified the party who had violated it, and stated that they would not perform until the party in default showed up with enough money to refund each attendee for the overcharge. The obvious potential for mob action prompted the directed course of action.
