  1. Military veteran here. Nobody, and I mean nobody who engaged in fisticuffs on duty would be allowed into any part of the ship except the brig, let alone the bridge, let alone the captain's chair. TNG was pretty far removed from how a real military goes about doing things, but things got worse as they went along and with the new movies it's a complete mockery.
