  1. The mainstream press is playing a longer game. If they thought that Biden and Harris had a chance at re-election, they would be falling on their swords to shore up the poll numbers to make it a comfortable victory. They've given up on this, and so they are trying to position themselves as unbiased, and also trying to prepare the way for the Democrats' rehabilitation.
