  1. As with most chronic problems, it continues because the government is trying to treat the symptom of the problem instead of the cause. People don't have enough money? Give them money. The money inflates so even with more money, people still don't have enough. Unemployment is the result of people whose skills are not in demand in the market for labor. Fix that, and unemployment goes away.
