  3. Also, if you want to be real precise, you need to use weight not volume to measure your fuel! I'm guessing that if you did use weight, you would have the time would be even more negligible than the 1 or so with the volume measurement.

It seems to me that your concern over the tensioner moving and locking into the spokes could be alleviated by drilling a hole through it and the bike frame and inserting a bolt through the hole and either using a lock nut or thread lock when tightening it down. But that doesn't prevent the part from wearing out.
