Steps I would take after hearing your experience. 1) Determine where the meter "has to be" prior to house design. If you want all mechanicals on the same side of the house, then that is paramount to that design. 2) Design a larger mechanical room and don't be to tight on the specs. If you want all of it to fit, then make sure it's large enough for all of it to fit. 3) Don't start the build until you have all the specifications down on paper. By holding off the build and getting all the specs down first, issues like the unwillingness of two companies that need to communicate with one another, to communicate in a timely manner, would suggest that one or both of those companies need to be changed out for one's that will communicate with one another in a timely manner. But, if you insist on using those two companies, then waiting for both to get their heads out of their backsides is necessary before beginning the build. Even if you end up waiting an additional 6 months for the build to begin, by waiting, you can iron out all the hiccups and have the adjustments in the plans and the build will go a lot smoother and be more efficient. It's one thing to have to wait on something. But why let someone pressure you into having to hurry up and wait?

The biggest problem with the push towards green energy is the delusional notion that we can flip from petroleum to electric everything without having first, upgraded the electrical grid to handle all that extra electrical demand. Along with that delusional mindset is the delusional notion that we can refrain from using petroleum and natural gas in the foreseeable future. The best way to insure that the change you want to make fails on arrival, is to deny the reality of the real world need for a reasonable and controlled transition over an extended period of 100 years. What's worse is the denial of the real world fact that the so called "green energy" is not green and produces more green house gases than the current petroleum system we are now living under. Billions of billions of dollars are being spent on what is scientifically known to be at this time, a goal that is impossible to achieve. Only stupid rich people do this sort of stuff. We poor people know better than to spend hard earned money on things that won't work.

You need a sprinkler system for a battery fire? Yeah, the fire departments have already figured out, that doesn't work. They now let EV car fires burn and make sure the fire doesn't spread. That's the problem with electing lazy egotists to office, they always claim to know what's best all the while refusing to do actual research on the subject. Sometimes, the best research is to ignore all the "experts" that are, rather than being experts, representatives of corporations trying to take advantage of tax payers and force people to purchase their products.

I have an induction hot plate. I used it for a while then decided to pack it up and stick it in the closet with the other kitchen gadgets I have. My apartment has an electric stove so that's what I use. That bottles in the water clip in your water filter ad is misleading. It implies that Americans are the primary source of plastic pollution in the oceans. We are not! That honor goes to all the developing markets around the world that do not have the same respect for the environment that the majority of Americans have. If the United States was able to take all the waste it produces in a year including all the carbon, and recycle all that waste so that not so much as an ounce went into the environment, it would not make a dent in the effort to reduce pollution in the environment. Everything the environmentalists push is so hyped up that it all must be deemed false until proper research is conducted to verify the claims. That's why Rush Limbaugh called them environmentalist wackos. Their grand push to an all EV fleet is now blowing up in their faces. I told one of them 20 years ago, that we needed to move to a hybrid fleet so that when the technology became available that hydrogen or some other cleaner fuel could be used instead of gasoline and diesel, all the auto industry would have to do is drop in the new fuel tanks and engine to charge the on board batteries. Now, according to some sources, as a result of EVs not functioning in severe cold weather, people that purchased an EV are trading them in for a hybrid. The move to an all EV fleet has probably been set back by 50 years. It will take that long for the tech to mature and for people to feel comfortable in giving them another try. You can't push or demand that the people, adopt a technology before it's time. Doing so is tyranny.

If you have not sold your home yet, it would be a good idea to have snow guards installed in preparation for the sale. Code may require it and a buyer may require it.
