@MrAdopado "Climate change in the west of Morocco has already scuppered viable farming" It's more likely that a failure to adjust to the changes in the local climate caused the land to not be viable farm land. Two plots of land 30 miles away can require farmers to use drastically different methods in order to successfully grow a crop. As a result, they may have needed to adjust their farming methods, but did not have sufficient knowledge to be flexible and figure it out. In the US, growing zones are inching northward which will require a change in farming for those affected. This is due to the sun's current solar cycle which is not being a very nice one. On top of the issues with the suns solar cycle, there are scientists that in the fictional world of horror, would be deemed mad scientists. These real world scientists have been given a budget of 800 million pounds and they have plans to set up technology in space that will reduce the amount of solar rays from the sun by a third. This is a great way to reduce the world food supply. Somewhere along the way, a delusional elite have decided that horror stories that should appear nowhere other than a horror novel, are exemplary ideas to try out in real life.
