I've heard the ''EU is going to collapse soon'' stick for a great number of years and while I don't like the current EU leadership or direction I think it's here to stay simply because there really is no real alternative for the political bodies that make up the EU, the reason why the EU is ineffective for the most part is that it is run not as a federation or even a confederation, it's run as a supranational organisation which means it is always dependent on what member states want or can block any progress being made within the block for any small kind of reason, I think your going to see a move to a federal EU and some members will go along and others might break away or demand some kind of special condition for not being part of any kind of federal EU. either that or the EU is going to collapse in some shape or form but what would replace it is just smaller type of EU like an eastern european union and a western european union which would leave both weaker and much more poor so why waste time on that? unless the EU gets even more wacky leaders and bad policies I don't think it's going to collapse, this war with Russia and Ukraine in fact is the prime catalist to move forward for some kind of federalization because of the national security threat from Russia and the incompentent leadership of the USA.
