  1.  @J.C.3  US was testing underwater drones and you could even use civilian ships to drop mines and detonate them, the CIA even warned about such an attack to the German Government. So either the US navy did it in secret or more likely CIA or other secret service agency did it, it's not that hard to pull off if you have the info and the mines to do so, they could have been dropped early this year and just left there in case of a future development.

Many strategic ICBM's have 20-30 megaton warheads that split off into 1-2 megaton sub-warheads, one ICBM can destroy multiple cities at once though you also have smaller yield Strategic ICBM'S that fire less warheads or tactical ICBM'S that fire just 1 and with limited range. The largest single warhead used was the Tsar Bomba with 50 megaton nuclear payload but most are in the 1-2 megaton range of single warhead, though others can go up to 6-10 megaton warheads though I believe they are largely out of service now, not sure if equal for all nuclear states but most US and Russian warheads most likely.

  4. They can't join they are in active combat, NATO is a defensive Alliance not an aggressive one and even then they still sometimes invade and other others for little reason. Maybe after the war they could join but only if no future conflict seems likely.

  5. Smaller nuclear states might have lower yield nuclear weapons to cut costs, like North Korea, Israel or formerly for South Africa

  7. Yeah it's a bit of a mess and we kinda already had that with Russia in 2014 as well as other wars like in Georgia. Its all about not rewarding wars for expansion because then China might want to take Taiwan. I do think/hope that if Putin ordered a nuclear strike that people around him just shoot him because it would be batshit insane but even if used that is unlikely to start a nuclear war it would just be a massive warcrime and redouble the efforts to get rid of Putin, it would also isolate Russia from India and China.

  9.  @doncarlodivargas5497  look at it this way, you can cut corners with the army and corruption can erode equipment but the core of the army remains functional, the army is very big and in many places at once, corruption is everywhere and people in all sectors don't get paid very much, so they cut corners. Now compare that to nuclear weapons, they need more highly educated people, they need more work to remain functional, are essential for the regime's national security, pretty small teams compared to the army, get paid better and are located in small sections of the country, the chance of corruption and opportunity to cut corners is very small and benefits to do so very little. Now is it impossible? No and I would be surprised to see all nuclear weapons in perfect condition but compared to the army it has to be way lower and from a strategic point of view you only need like 10-100 nukes for the same effect as 10.000 nukes, in terms of leverage on the world stage and influence on nations behaviour.
