it does look like that from the outside but it does seem to have some kind of value as a capped value property, doubt it's going to reach the billions mark others predict since why could it not be replaced with super-bitcoin? alt coins as well, can't hurt to buy some and hold on for long term.

@Joshkie2 well you can say the same for other things of value, if you had say 100.000.000 Dutch Guldens around 1980 and you stored that somewhere and you dug it up in 2020 and tried to buy or trade it for something you would not be able to, because now we use the Euro currency, might be able to sell it to collectors but not all of them. likewise Bitcoin or other crypto's can change in value to be higher or lower, the advantage crypto has over say other real life currencies is that there is a fixed amount of it and it's unit of value can be divided nearly endlessly. as an investment it's not bad, perhaps even a long term investment but I don't think forever would be a sane choice when it comes to crypto or anything for that matter but that's just my view.

@Joshkie2 the value is speculative to a degree but the real value is it's limit amount, it's true you can't melt bitcoin down to produce something els but it does not realy matter, the value is what people believe it to be, as well as most products have value based on weird or abstract variables, like a corporate logo on the same type of shoe being 5 times more expensive then the same shoe without the logo, value is speculative and abstract, there are things like food and water that have value for survival but are made less valued due to abundance of it, bitcoin is not like that, just like gold is not like bitcoin.
