  1. first off the USA has expanded via war a couple of times. secondly the USA (specifically Donald Trump) has threatened to use both military and economic means to try and get it, this is a very violent threat that signals hostility from the USA not just to Greenland but also Dennmark and because Dennmark is part of the EU, Europe as a whole. thirdly the reasons given for why the USA wants Greenland is purely economic and strategic which is against European interests as a whole. fourthly, Dennmark actually gives Greenland a lot of money, support and has been open to the idea of making them independent over many decades but has kept close relations because of it's own self interests and the interests of the people living there. many European countries maintain some small islands or regions around the world, France perhaps has the largest amount, including a small island off the coast of North America, an island in asia and a quite large piece of land in south america, the USA saying they want to annex Greenland is a signal they might want to annex other lands. for once the motto of American Imperialism is actually very accurate and hard to dispute.
