16:08 not to sound pro national socialism but weren't the nazi's obsessed with raising birthrates, expanding their empire and influence and commiting mass genocide with the sole purpose of creating one united pan-germanic empire? does that not sound like the right sorta policy if the goal is becoming a super power? I would say that their lack of innovation and proper science like with nuclear theory would leave them behind the USA or the UK but in terms of manpower, resources and attempts to raise birthrates would they not be in a better position compared to the USSR in our time line?

@MasterGhostf that is true but I don't consider the western world to be very interested in criticism or opposing views either, from my perspective they would be in a better position to adapt and change compared to the USSR, we don't know for sure of course since they lost the war but from what I've read about both national socialism and communism is the former is more focused on gaining power no matter what with a racial focus while the later is focused more on an ideological idea with power as a means to promote it. I know you can say the same thing about both ideologies and that's true but that's what it appears to be the case.

I find it very frustrating how whatifalthist has such negative views of Europe, the EU and european nations are doing their best and have made some progress towards unifying.

@BuiltSimilarG I think we see in the modern world three main ideologies develop who seem to be in competition with eachother. 1. Democratic corporatism 2. Chinese style government totalitarianism 3. pan-national supranationalistic technocracy the EU is number 3 but other entities also exist like the Eurasian union (led by Russia) and the African Union (potentially led by Nigeria, South africa or the perhaps in the future the East african Federation) the EU is very disfunctional for sure but in many ways it's like the USA under the articles of confederation, Salvini in Italy resently was talking about attempting to create a super majority right wing block which would be able to influence EU wide policies (or not im not sure) if his plans work we might see the creation of a EU style rightwing vs leftwing block like the US republicans and democrates, while that won't fix everything it could change the current stagnation. also Russia is Europe's main rival and althist mentioned how they are a failed nation, at some point they will have to bend or break.

@djdjukic idk it sounds very fatalistic and hyperbolic, the EU like many nations have problems but in terms of wealth, manpower and technology it is slighty behind the USA, so it only realy need to find a good way to represent the nations that make it up. as for Russia I think they might get a more western focused leadership as Putin's regime is not as stable as it seems. the USA from our perspective seems to be suffering from the same issues as the EU, though they have less enemies to deal with and internal problems it seems. However when you look at certain specific issues like say airplanes, Europe's airbus outcompetes the US Boeing and things like electric cars, also the Eurofighter project, while these aren't ground breaking things by themselves it does show that there is potential and it has worked to some degree, just not as well as it should.

I think there were a number of times when China split apart but yeah it's civilization survived and when the mogols took over China they just melted into the chinese identity for the most part. the true collapse of China has to be with the boxer rebelion, the end of the chinese emperor system and the civil wars which ended up with the CCP taking over and destroying most of it's culture, starving their own people and creating the one-child policy that is going to cause massive social problems and demografic problems in china.

@davidace5864 what specifically do you mean? because they actually did raise the birthrates a little, unclear if they could have raised it further though and their plans of expansion makes a lot of sense when you compare it to say manifest destiny in the USA, the only reason it ''haunts'' Germany is because they lost the war and the allies made sure to rub it in, propagandize acts by the nazi's and made sure to humiliate and limit the reach of germany via their constitution, ironically the jappanese did equal to worse things against china and the alies and they weren't realy given the same treatment and many of the restricting acts in their constitution have been changed, they can wage war if they want to again, where as Germany's army is still limited. I think it's very irrational and silly to think the modern state of germany can continue like it is now and many other european nations (including poland btw) want germany to play a more aggresive rol towards enemies like Russia, which is probably why Germany is so pro EU because it is a loophole for them to potential arm and spread through the rest of Europe rather than change their national constitution.

well the transgender and third wave feminist stuff is pretty decadent, civilization is always in the proces of renewal, stagnation, reinvention or death, right now we are in stagnation that can continue for some time but at some point it has to be turned around, how and in what way im not sure but im convinced it will come from nessesity.

13:42 I slightly disagree here but I love to hear your comments on this, due to global warming many of russia's northern coasts might become ice free and due to changing temperatures the northern regions will become more like the current climates in north america and central europe, freeing up land for farming and getting new sea-lanes for trade, while this won't magically solve russia's issues it does make me wonder if this could bring new life into the russia as both an economic power and as a nation.

aren't the french cracking down on radical islam now? sure it be nice if they did that 15 years sooner but compared to say sweden or the UK they might be in better shape to change.

it depends what your conserving, if you want to conserve the polcies of rationalism, the enlightenment, having stable birthrates and certain freedoms then that is a lot better than conserving say the monachy and wanting to go back living in mud huts and smashing machines, basically ''return to monke'' meme.

they did burn the city and put the people to the sword or chains, not sure if they literally salt the countryside but perhaps they did something symbolic and then propagandized it to humiliate their enemies, the romans loved doing that.

@BuiltSimilarG I don't think we will solve it, the world will just change and we will have to adapt with it as well, some nations might fall, Europe will have to defend itself against mass migration from parts of Africa and Russia might become a super power again by gaining more controle over the sea lanes. we can't predict the future though so who knows?

@adamnesico you would think the end of a system which lasted from 4000 bc to the 18th century which was then followed by some of the most brutal wars, civil wars, famines and purges of cultural identity would be more significant in damage compared to the fall of a specific dynasty but perhaps your right im not an expert on chinese history.

@incarnation151 im not sure if that's accurate, I'm not an expert on han dynasty but at that time Chinese culture had already cemented itself for quite some time, the only matter that changed was who would end up ruling most of China, the Mogols were a brutal bunch if you resisted them but if you opened your gates for them and peacefully changed rulers they would be pretty mild, in fact Koblai khan the ruler of the Chinese part of the mongol empire, quickly adopted chinese customs and in essence became just another chinese dynasty with no real intention of destroying Chinese civilization. Now go back to the communist take over, you just had the century of humiliation, the overthrow of the imperial system that lasted 6000+ years, you just had decades of warlord driven civil war and a brutal jappanese war that killed millions, then on top of all that you get a communist regime that tries it's best to uproot the whole of chinese culture, religion, history, causing the biggest famine known in human history, millions fled the country and when Mao died China was one of the poorest nations on the planet, it only took mild market reforms for China to become the second biggest economy in just a few decades and even now the seeds of the communist one child policy is haunting the Chinese nation still. I just can't imagine anything worse for Chinese culture and history than the communist take over of the country, even today it's still not mended it's wounds, who even remembers the han dynasty anymore compared to that? Though to be fair actions in the past have had long term effects for the far future, Alexander the Great, Tamurlain, Charlemaine dividing his kingdom between his kids, the Discovery of america, the list goes on and on.

@adamnesico you are partialy correct the French government does want to interconnect africa with France both through education and migration, im not sure if the people would tolorate full replacement though and their birthrates are still pretty high compared to the rest of Europe but that could be due to immigrant populations im not sure. that being said Macron's crackdown on islam is only a position he has taken due to Le pen's party platform being so popular, so basically he is not as radical as le pen could be so if she were to win the next election she could attempt more radical reform, same across Europe btw, though sweden and the UK seem truly lost in my opinion, Germany too but Germany has options to rely more on immigration from eastern europe.

they did massive reforms that tried to undo all the centuries of policies before, abortion became legal, womans rights to the extreme, radical egalitarianism, it was very radical for the times and with horrific results, you even had the psudo biology of lisenkoism (think that's how you say it) to try and convince themselves that communism is based on science (where have we heard that one before?) so I have to disagree they were very reformist however you could argue they were very rigid in their reformist nature, if the old ways worked fine they still attempted to change it. the only exception to this i can think of is the cult of personality around stalin that replaced then ortodox church that was present for hundreds of years.
