Atheism tries to be a religion without any virtue, it has no codified form of ethics and often ''rationalism'' is simply used as a tool to justify pre-determined conclusions.
now I consider myself more an Agnostic, there is some kind of magic or divine spirit in the universe, there has to be to create all that we see, it is beyond our understanding so claiming there is no supernatural can't ever be 100% correct, though disproven most often, for sure.
religions are interesting, though I often wonder how people can form such strong believes and believe them to be true, in a way it's both a blessing and a curse, you can't question certain things but you have a justification for moral laws from a higher power, seeing as more people are worshiping the state as a substitute for god these days the results are always horrific since your always putting your faith in human beings and they are more corrupt then they themselves realize.
don't get me wrong, religions are often also corrupt with their priest class but at least they have laws and views that have some long term order in them, I feel science has yet to properly understand religions from a scientific and psychological perspective over civilizations, laws, philosophy and cultural vigor.

not a day goes by that I don't see a nonsense claim made by representatives of ''science'' with dogmatic followers claiming it's true because ''the science says so'', covid was a real wake up call to most people, seeing how corrupt most of science is and how often they lie to benefit themselves.
it's a real problem, it's eroding trust in science and the scientific method with the general public, in a rational society, the scientists who make wild, bold and inaccurate claims should be stripped of their degrees and potentially face prison time for having done damage to society on poor data and corruption to interests groups like pharma companies, this practice is now so widespread that a significant size of the population now mistrusts scientists and ''experts''
we must restore scientific, academic standards and hold people responsable, we won't as a society but we really should, perhaps the next generations will have to deal with that. @Charles-js3ri
