why exactly? how are men being appointed based on their gender? it's a company, if they don't hire based on competency they will lose out by a company that does, this law ironically does exactly what you claim men are doing by forcing companies to hire woman based on their gender via the law, this is institutional sexism. also why would their be 50% woman on the boards already? based on what logic? what if nobody else wanted to apply but men? what if the area they are hiring only has 30% woman? no job distribution by gender can ever be 50/50% equal split because we aren't machines being equally divided we are human beings that work and act on an individual basis. this is such a weird and frankly childish level of argumentation it's embarrassing

2:39 how? boost economic growth? by having more women instead of men? if anything you now need a lot more functions just to fit the gender quota, if anything this will be harmfull for economic growth as many companies might just decide to leave to not deal with another piece of regulations. improve competitiveness? by not hiring based on merrit and instead having the government force people in based on their sex? that's not how the economy works. tackle demographic challenges, by having less woman embracing motherhood and raising families and instead being part of a corporate structure to fix a gender quota?

why should we fix gender imbalance? is there some great benefit to everything being 50/50% equal? if I hire a company to do construction work, I would be very surpised if they are all woman and worry for their health in such a job sector.

based on what evidence? people pick different jobs at different gender balances, men dominate construction workers and many other jobs, are we going to implement a gender quota for them too? no? only for the top levels of corporate companies? why? people are being hired based on their qualifications if anything this now will reduce woman being hired in these jobs as being seen as a quota hire and not based on merrit. a law like this will be harmfull for womans rights, is institutionally sexist and discriminatory and the law can only get worse, this is perhaps the worst piece of legitslation in the EU right now. my own country of the Netherlands has done something quite like this and it's very shameful towards woman and harmful towards men, this is sexist and irrational, nothing good will come from it.

@Micha-qv5uf 1. You are naive if you think this won't be expanded upon to other jobs regardless of differences 2. Please point me the last piece of law passed forcing companies to hire only men to fit a male quota enforced by the government, good luck. Some jobs are dominated by woman, hell where I work 80% of the work force are woman, should they be forced to get fired to fit a gender quota? I sure wonder what feminists groups would say if that were to happen.
2
@Micha-qv5uf you are projecting, you aren't making any arguments and refuse to adress my real arguments, then try and gaslight me saying I don't adress your arguments of which there are non. You make a claim without evidence, present it as true, I challenge those claim with my own arguments which you refuse to adress, this level of conversation, gaslighting and frankly insult throwing says more about you then it does about me.

this is a horrible piece of legislation that basically institutionalizes sexism and makes a mockery out of woman, it will discriminate against men, put woman in positions of power that are not earned by merrit and make every woman who is hired due to this policy be seen as merely a diversity hire for a function she could not gain otherwise even if she was qualified, it also must be asked if most woman even want to work at these top levels because it means giving up a lot of freedom and other choices woman have. who is this bill even for? is it for woman in general to get a unfair headstart over men? is it for feminists groups to gain easier access to powerful positions for political and financial gain? this is horrible for woman's rights and a blow to the legitimacy of the EU, I felt immense shame when my own government of the Netherlands passed something like this last year I believe and to see it being enforced potentially across the EU? it's very sad and depressing, esspecially for woman who actually want to be seen as equal to men.

this is literally a conspiracy theory, that men are somehow conspiring against woman to not hire a certain amount of woman based on what exactly? sexism? so how do you solve it? by making a very sexist piece of legitslation of course! now all woman hired will be quota hires and men applying for the same job will have a lower chance at getting the job based on their sex, congrats! btw how does this piece of law take into account men who transition? because in Germany you can just say on your ID card that you identify as a woman so now you as a trans men have an advantage over other men for the same job. horray for sexism!

@RektedbyPaler that's my question because there is no benefit in doing so, except perhaps lowering woman's standing in society from being equal to men to being a quota fill.
1
it's horrible, it will make Europe less competitive, hire woman based on sex not merrit and will harm woman's rights by being viewed as just another diversity hire to fix their ''gender quota's''

@EUMadeSimple if they can't mention how or point to data, it's made up.
