To be honest this idea could have worked better if it first formed without south sudan and the Congo, both have terrible conditions and trying to fit them all together as quickly as possible might scare off the other players of the project. Bigger is not always better and things that sound great on paper in practice sometimes fall apart. It be great if they can get it to work but I have my doubts.

  2. Idk the world has changed a lot since then, it's less about protecting trade and more about maintaining US hegemony. While I support the sanctions on Russia there is no doubt this is a massive change to how the USA used to work as well as rising powers in both India, China, EU, Africa and South America, no king rules forever.

  5.  @Student0Toucher  USA is also in decline, EU has had some progress for a while now, just now with Russia it's a bit more complicated. South America is still doing pretty bad probably going to get a lot worse with their lineup of leftist politicians. Yes USA should do more with India but right now India is getting cheap oil and gas from Russia, not exactly the ideal situation for US interest.

  8.  @stereomachine  that's because most of the tribes lived in very isolated regions, causing micro evolution in their specific environment, often times with very little interaction with other tribes. This also implies a certain degree of imbreeding (as was the case for most of the world at some point) The argument of "most genetically diverse" is kind of a meaningless term, it does not say anything about who they are, what they look like, what that means and in fact the skin color can be very different between groups, the Neolote people for example are much darker than most other african people's.

  15. I do wonder what the future is going to look like but from all the signs and developments I see, I don't think it's going to be that great. When Africa starts to develop much more rapidly (even more so than today) I fear with it's massive population size and potential ethnic conflicts it's going to ripe for either proxy wars or if the new cold war goes hot to be a major Battlefield for the US, China, Russia and EU. Seeing the decline in resources, major conflicts brewing and new technologies, I don't think we are going to see good times for anyone.

  22.  @disturbedjester8154  this is literally talking points from 30+ years ago and its never been true, it's just arrogant and inaccurate both to native citizens and migrants, people want to work, corporations want cheap labour to expand and pay less wages for more value per worker. Political parties want voters. We aren't talking about 1 million, we are talking about 30 million in the next 50 years while the native population declines by 10 mililion in the same time. The idea that this won't effect society in any real and harmful way is more of a danger to our societies and the west in general then climate change, it opens up the risk to terrorism, crime and political extremism due to alienation, if you want an authoritarian and anti democratic state then keep spreading this misinformation for no Benefit to yourself or others, you will get there sooner then you think.

I never quit get the argument of "Europeans drew the borders like this 200 years ago, therefor everything bad" for starters even naturally drawn borders bring conflicts like say the Balkans or in China and second, Europeans left close to a century ago, any border disputes would have been handeled by people if they wanted to or even wage wars to create stable borders and more nations between nations or even better why not just leave to go to the country you rather be part of? What's stopping you? I feel like people are just throwing stuff at a dart board to see what sticks to make any conclusion besides, "well they want/like it like this" it makes the africans seem like Children that can't do anything to help themselves and I think that's kind of racist or at least dishonest compared to different standards in other nations.

  35. the US empire has both been a source for good in the world and a source of war, death, misery and decline for other nations. on a humanity scale, the US being the world hegemon is a good thing, for certain nations (not even just third world or US rivals) it can been seen as a constraining or even hostile force, the USA is the world hegemon not out of the goodness of it's heart or love for democracy, human rights or even liberal values (lol) it's because of good old power politics, the benefit of certain elites at the top, corporate and industrial interest groups. a USA that's less engaged with the world could actually make it's citizens richer and protect it's values better (what little values remain) but this would be giving up parts of their empire and much like the former British empire, this can end in very bad ways. this is the norm of history, the US hegemon is the exception and it's one that's most likely coming to an end, not the end of the dollar as a whole but the US dollar hegemony as a total dominating force on the world stage, also does not mean Russia or China will become the big players in the world, they are just the ones most eager to see the US dollar fall.

  40. I never quite got the whole "they drew the borders so therefor conflict is inevitable" thing, like people are allowed to move around right? You would think after decades of decolonisation that would fix the issue with these borders no?   47. 2030 has been cited as the end date of the dollar or at least the point where it's national debt interest and inflation on the public will become unsustainable. only time will tell if this happens or not, maybe AI or some other new industry will keep the dollar alive for a few more years or decades but this trend of fiat currency going into hyperinflation and the country/civilization going into crisis mode has happened multiple times in history, there is no reason to think the USA is somehow going to avoid it, though like the roman empire of old, they have managed to postpone it multiple times, often via a worldwar or simply stealing other people's gold/funds.

  55.  @williamthebonquerer9181  that's because Russian gas is more expensive for India, only now do they get a good deal which they still might not fully take because it puts them in the eyes of western sanctions, it also takes time to set up pipelines for gas transfers.

Russia is a strange sort of colonial empire that has a core cultural and ethnic identity followed by a large land area of non russian people as their meat shield and now that Russian core is going into collapse on all fronts. I can only speak for myself here but as someone who lives in the Netherlands, I imagined that Russia would slowly start to become more liberal, more western and would perhaps one day become more democratic or at the very, very least not warmongering against other nations for more land, people and resources, putting to rest the idea of a restored USSR. Sadly I was naive to think that but when you look how bad things are going in Russia the last thing that anyone would do, would be to start a major war and do it so badly as they are doing it now, basically now, Russia has no bridge to try and cross into something else, it's stuck on this path that goes nowhere, the west can't just go back to the status quo, they can't fall back on the Chinese or Indians. Russia is pretty much doomed in their current path, there is still a chance that they could get a ''minor'' collapse and simply have a smaller Russia with less people but with a people and leader that tries to take it into a new direction, while that's very unlikely and won't win over the west, it's either try and crawl back to where they were or face total collapse.

We do see how fiat currency seems unstable with the amounts being printed by both government and private banks, inflation is very common which hurts people that save money but helps those who take on debt but the market and wages don't seem to correct themselves fast enough and many debts aren't in the publics interest. Some people say we should all switch to crypto currencies but I have my doubts, what do you think?
