Idk the world has changed a lot since then, it's less about protecting trade and more about maintaining US hegemony. While I support the sanctions on Russia there is no doubt this is a massive change to how the USA used to work as well as rising powers in both India, China, EU, Africa and South America, no king rules forever.

@Student0Toucher USA is also in decline, EU has had some progress for a while now, just now with Russia it's a bit more complicated. South America is still doing pretty bad probably going to get a lot worse with their lineup of leftist politicians. Yes USA should do more with India but right now India is getting cheap oil and gas from Russia, not exactly the ideal situation for US interest.

There is much to hate and love about America, though for the rest of the world the USA can be seen as an empire for good or an empire for evil but an empire regardless.

@joaquinescotoaleman4320 you basicaly have to live in the woods and make everything yourself to not be influenced, around or buy anything made in or invented in the USA, it's everywhere, you can hate the USA while using technology or products made in or by the USA.

@Arcaryon colonial empires were not that bad, most of them had economic hardships when it ended.

@williamthebonquerer9181 that's because Russian gas is more expensive for India, only now do they get a good deal which they still might not fully take because it puts them in the eyes of western sanctions, it also takes time to set up pipelines for gas transfers.
