The middle class has actually been hollowed out with few ways to get ahead, locked in student debt sometimes for worthless degrees and a massively growing lower class and an extremely wealthy upper class that rules with the government and corporations to keep everyone down. Kings in the past did not have the same level of technology as we do today but they weren't forced to work 3 types of jobs, go to war, deal with crime, unemployment, political parties, censorship or any of our modern problems which are plenty and severe. The true golden age is behind us and the people are resentfull of that fact since they were sold a lie that progress only ever moves forward or that it's always their fault when the world does not reward their hard work. A lot of things need to change if the USA wants to improve life for it's citizens and give them more social mobility, now what that is idk but it's not the current elites or leftwing activists that's for sure.
