I slightly disagree asmon, it's not that people enjoy the lives they live and don't want to change, it's that they view the world around them and their fellow citizens as potential enemies and can't make sense of the world because they've been lied to for most of their life by the education system, the media, social media, their parents (if they have any since most people divource these days) so what do they do? They look for people who seem to be doing well and they follow them. It's all about making a map of where you are and where you are going but most people don't know where they are or where they are going.
