  2. Ian did say that the political divide in the US is only getting worse, but he didn't say what the consequences would be. My take is that It will be hard to provide global security if the GOP achieves, with approval from their base, permanent power by rigging elections with a combination of gerrymandering, restricting voter access, and installing political hacks to oversee elections. Without any liberal voices left in politics, the US military will become even more of a tool used by American oligarchs to control global supply lines and markets like big oil has done in the middle east.
