  2. and elt's not forget the whole disregard for the fact: how do we get those resources to the home islands? Via cargo ship wonderful! --> procced to kinda forget submarines are a thing and loose much of the stuff, and only thanks to EXCELLENT torpedo design by the americans it wasnt much more.

One should just imagien the japanese getting wind of the german plans to invade the Soviets... perhaps they would have seen their shot for resources there and would have struck north against a weaked far eastern front of the Soviets. but Germany just never told them, thus keeping them focused on an attack towards the area held by the colonial powers.
