You said in the video that non-rocket launch systems all need to deal with crazy amounts of air resistance... this isn't necessarily the case if they hit the atmosphere at a high altitude, which pretty much requires an active support structure ( maybe you can do it with buoyancy, but given the scale involved, probably not), but it is possible. Of course active support structures are a lot farther out of the realm of tested technology than the systems you were probably thinking of, but a caveat on that would probably be appropriate. On the main topic though, this does sound like it's not very useful given the high g forces the payload endures and the low velocity advantage gained, plus exiting low in the atmosphere. However it might be worth considering for launching materials off of the moon for use in in-orbit construction, given the lack of atmosphere and lower orbital velocity.
