Also, Hirohito was heavily criticized and in some instance it was a justified criticism, but it seems he was clever and more clam than most Japanese, knowing a war with USA would cost a lot and Japan risked annihilation

@johnyricco1220 True, but the military was powerful and he probably couldn't find any strong reason to refute their argument. Even in Japann the emperor was not all powerful, in the past the Shogun was way more powerful than the emperors and he probably feared being replaced with some more appeasing relative

@bkjeong4302 Yes, he believed the military when they said they could win. But he was clever enough to understand when to stop. Many Head of States don't have even that much wisdom
