If you want to live longer remove meat/dairy from your diet as much as possible and drink lots of unsweetened, dark green teas. Also eat avocados, legumes, and nuts for fat/protein. I haven't been "sick" with flu/cold-like symptoms in almost 8 years. The "foods" most people eat are trash. Also, a simple thought exercise in human anatomy tells you that we aren't supposed to be eating meat 24/7 but the culture makes it nearly inescapable, unless you're smart to read labels and avoid peer pressure. I haven't had a stomach ache in over 10 years since I no longer buy or consume cow milk.
The Japanese were closer to the ideal (agrarian) human diet before Western influence. Meat consumption makes your bodies internal pH more acidic, which in turn makes you more prone to all kinds of illnesses and diseases. I almost have a rule of thumb that if I meet a person on lots of meds, I can safely presume they probably eat meat and dairy all day every day, along with too much processed sugar... Unhealthy in, unhealthy out. In addition, you might want to reduce/limit your overall calorie intake per day... Problem is, humans are stupid and will find some way to justify their dumb behavior. So I don't expect anyone reading this to actually heed my advice.
TLDR; The vegans are more right than wrong, and for your own sake, you should probably heed their advice. Though you most likely won't. Either way, your health is not my problem.
