  1. Another reason for eastern European countries dropping in population is emigration. My country has the 3rd highest birth rate since Covid and it's relatively close to 2.1(1.76), but we have 40-50 000 emigrants per year on average for the last 10 years and we are just 6 million people now. (Bulgaria) My country has fallen from 10.8 million in 1990 to 6 million today. Oh and rent prices and real estate prices are going through the roof here as well, even though we have 3-4x more homes than in 1990, while being almost half the population. Why? Because it's not supply and demand, big companies are buying out homes and land to build homes on, and then setting the prices based on what loan two average salaries can get.
