Wasting my time in CS, can't get a job because university consists of 8-9x hour a day mandatory classes + extra braindead homework, haven't learnt anything new in CS except for Mathematical Analysis to a depth I won't need. I'm a worse programmer than I was before going to university. I should have gotten the job I was offered after after highschool.

@VK-mt7ss Unless you have some brain damage or some other similar condition you are more than smart enough to learn CS. All you need to know is that you should be studying on your own 3-4 hours a day.

@Va13chka No the thing is I love computers ever since I was in kindergarten. The problem is that universities are all useless regardless of the major you choose, you learn next to nothing about everything. You need 10-20x the knowledge you'd get in 4-8x years of university and actual skill to be deemed competent.

The problem is that universities suck and barely teach you anything... I keep wondering why people still believe in them and keep going to them.

@VK-mt7ss Well math is a skill and it's learnable just like any other. Just know that you don't NEED a CS degree to work in the programming field. The majority of companies don't require it and once you get 2-3 years of professional experience and you get good at it, nobody cares if you even went to school and kindergarten, let alone university. Most engineering fields are meritocracy based and many that say they require a bachelor or masters degree, really don't, it's just a "nice to have certification" and many accept certificates from private courses, bootcamps, private universities. My friend landed a in the beginning of this year in a multi-national european company that said that they required a masters degree or/and 4 years of professional work experience and he hasn't stepped in a university. Another friend got a programming job requiring a bachelor degree straight after highschool, no university either. So yeah. And I personally am very sorry and disappointed that I went to university with Software and Hardware engineering(what you call CS, but my university had it before CS was a popular term for it, so they stuck to it)

@Jacqueline Martinez Boot camps that can teach you HTML, CSS, Javascript for front-end with AJAX and jQuery will get you going for 3-6 months and are super cheap usually, along with you educating yourself on the side with a book or two during the bootcamp, to go even more in depth into what they are teaching you.
