@sandrapickl915 My point is that if you need to add ballast to a car to give the other ones a chance to win, you've already won. And the point is that all cars are too heavy, even the BMW M340i. Anything over 1400kg for luxury sports sedan is too much.

@TheProboscisNose All of them should be lighter, they should be 1300-1400kg.

@sandrapickl915 They should indeed make sedans be 1200-1300kg in general and more luxurious ones like these about 1300-1400kg, so BMW needs to lose weight too.

@baysidelad1 The original Toyota Supras didn't have a Toyota Engine either. What now?
7
@Titoygts Well why aren't they lighter too? Lightness is more important than horse power.
5
@Sandile4 No the flagship models matter the least. The cars that matter the most are the ones that are most likely to be bought by... well not average, but closer to average people.
4
@Slotisfaction Indeed it is an amazing supra.
4
@sandrapickl915 no, making it heavier means it will look like blob, not badass.
4
@phoenixx_slayzz2022 Sure, but I was serious when I said that it's a good supra. IMO BMW has carried the Supra "spirit" very well over the years, especially with their coupes.

My mind is still pre-bug and to be exact 2012-2013

@mks1702 not even casual enthusiasts want more tech and luxury. We want a good drive at a good price. We don't even want excessive safety and all that jazz.
1
@gaycha6589 That's the thing, we don't need or have to have these regulations and tech, it's not a law of physics to have those things.
1
@Mav86asian The Golf R has a quarter mile of 12.6-12.7 seconds, while the BMW is 12.5, so it will beat 2 out 3 of them, while costing the same.
1
@Mav86asian I'd like to see an M3 E46 with modern tires and forced induction take on these.
1
@sebastianr.1561 We need to remove the regulations and keep only the sensible safety ones like air bags and seat belts and the engine not entering the cabin in a crash, but going downwards. Then we need to remove noise and most of the emissions regulations. Bring back 1200-1300kg sedans. And bring back 900-1100kg hatchbacks and roadsters.

@phoenixx_slayzz2022 They could be better, they used to be better, they are all good no doubt.
1
@phoenixx_slayzz2022 And the Supra MK3 and Mk4 were designed NOT by toyota, not chassis, nor the engine. The Supra is and has never been a toyota design, this time around it's not a toyota manufacturing either.

@leonardschluter7037 I'm pretty sure that if you make the pillars smaller, the doors thinner, the floor thinner, the size smaller, you can make them much lighter even with the "luxurious" equipment The Acura/Honda Integra 3rd gen 1994-2001 was made from heavy, cheap metals and materials and it was 1100kg. Imagine with more expensive, lighter weight alloys then add in the "luxury" goods and it will again be 1100kg.
1
@v4skunk739 There are hundreds of different steel alloys with different weight. Expensive ones are lighter than dirt cheap ones. Also the Acura Integra uses iron too and it rusts that's how cheap the materials were.

@CaptainKedah Doesn't change the fact that you get those extra 40-60HP either. The idea is what you get for your money, not weather or not they'd be faster or slower with equal power and weight in a straight line. I'd understand if you argued it about a circuit/track and taking turns, but for a straight line it doesn't matter.
1
@jordanallen7054 Yup, you can get 750-800HP out of it, i think almost stock or entirely stock.
1
@macca2760 Yes they can. And 4 wheel drive is no more than 100kg extra.
1
@paulmusche9152 Because it worked for 100 years and it was great. And no I don't want my sports car to be quiet... Also you are saying it as if 80s and 90s non-american cars were not quiet and comfortable and stable and durable.
1
@paulmusche9152 I'm not saying they are equal, I'm saying they aren't horrible as you are saying they are.
