The way I see it a Ryzen 8 core/16 thread CPU will most likely cost 500-600$, which is about 2x times cheaper than Intel's Overpriced x99 8 and 10 cores. There will most-likely be a Ryzen 6 core/12 thread and 4 core/8 thread with the hexa core Ryzen probably costing around 300-350$ a price equal to or lower than intel's i7 6800k and the quad core Ryzen costing about 250$ as Intel is overcharging the i7 quad core CPUs since forever. I'm looking to upgrade and the 6 core/12 thread is a sweet spot in my eyes and I will buy cheaper one, since the IPC difference will be less than 10%, the CPI should be the same and clock speeds should be within a 10% gap between each other. Another thing to consider is that AMD's AM4 platform and motherboards could potentionally be quite cheaper than intel's x99 and even if intel cuts the price on the x99, AM4 still has the potential of being cheaper as it is dual channel, which is a good 40-50$ saving on the client end. My upgrade will most likely be Ryzen as Intel's prices have gone way up in my country and the 6800k costs 500 euro and the future 7800k(or however they call it) is said to cost 540-550 euro, while my budget for my CPU is 350 euro.

Alex Strömberg IDC about the name, I just want a hexa core. :D I do NEED a hexa core, but I do NOT NEED an octa core, while quad core is too slow, well it's NOT too slow, it just can't multi-task as much as I need it to.
