@alexanderunknown8605 not in terms of profit margins. Nvidia sold the gtx 1000 series at 90-138% profit margins at MSRP, while the rtx 2000 and rtx 3000 were sold at 60% at MSRP... The gtx 1080 a sub-mid range GPU(312mm^2 die size out of 851mm^2 reticle limit, not even close to half) had a MSRP of 700$... let that sink in... they named a sub-mid range GPU an X80 card. It should have costed 350$ MSRP, maybe 400$ MAX because AMD had no competition for it.

Even if they removed the RT cores from the RTX 3050 it wouldn't change the MSRP by more than 10$, because the main cost for lower-end GPUs such as the RTX 3050 and RX 6500XT at the moment are the PCB, Cooler and Shipping, the chips themselves aren't very expensive at all.

Comparing Die Size is what turly matters.

The gtx 1000 series were the most overpriced at MSRP(which became FE MSRP a few days after release) generation ever.

@SpaceRanger187 it costs them about 30$ per full GA106 chip, but then you add-in the R&D which they need to pay for and it becomes more expensive. Manufacturing costs of the chip itself have become the lowest costs of all.

@SpaceRanger187 And yes production is extremely important and many government are ignorant of that.
