Arkadiusz Ochnio well yes and no, SLI performance 90% depends on the game optimization for SLI.
2
so outside Nvidia optimized title RX 480 in crossfire is as good as a gtx 1080 for much lower price.
1
Also the gtx 1080 none-founders edition costs 940$/850 euro in my country and europe as a whole...
1
SLI/crossfire performance depends on the game more than anything else and GTA V is Nvidia optimized.
1
Lala Loepsie no, GTA V is terribly optimized.
1
Lala Loepsie sadly the a10 is a really old architecture a gtx 1070 is way too strong for it, the RX 480 is it's limits.
1
Lala Loepsie in a system there is always a bottleneck... with an a10 7850k more than a RX 480 will result in a CPU bottleneck.
1
wabachi comparing a shit, to a lesser shit still makes them shit.
1
Jaden S. no and yes at the same time, the problem is the fact that game logic is linear.
1
nic nac yes, but the gtx 1080 is only 60--65% better than the RX 480 while costing 700$ compared to the 200$ of the RX 480 and in my country and Europe as a whole a NONE-founder's edition gtx 1080 costs 940$.
1
nic nac no it does NOT 3rd party gtx 1080s barey reach 2100Mhz on the core clock...
1
nic nac yes the RX 480 costs more... 10 euro more for the 4GB version and 17 euro more for the 8gb version, while the gtx 1080 none-founder's edition costs 850 euro/940$.
1
nic nac and I bet that most games they you watched on the benchmarks are Nvidia optimized titles like GTA V, Rise of the tomb raider and such.
1
nic nac that's what I'm trying to say, 2x RX 480s will beat the gtx 1080 in AMD optimized titles and will lose in Nvidia optimized titles and Half of the settings in rise of the tomb raider and based on Nvidia and are closed source so AMD can NOT optimize for them. The fact remains that in europe the RX 480 costs 210 euro in most countries, while the gtx 1080 costs 850 euro.
1
wabachi AoS is NOT AMD optimzied, AoS just takes advantage of async just like you said. And Nvidia is either too stubborn to implement ACEs in their architecture or it was too late for Pascal.
1
Lala Loepsie I agree, I DO NOT think that the RX 490 beat the gtx 1080, but I do think it will cost much less than the gtx 1080.
1
nic nac IF the RX 490 is only 10-15% or even 20% slower than the gtx 1080, but costs only 400$/euro I think it's a no brainer.
1
nic nac well that's the problem for example 2009-2011 (most)games were optimzied for Nvidia 2012-2014 (most)games were optimzied for AMD, 2015-2016 again (most)games are optimized for Nvidia, so it's really NOT a valid factor when deciding which GPU to buy.
1
nic nac sapphire confirmed on reddit a 1500Mhz RX 480 with even more overclocking capabilities, considering that the reference RX 480 runs at 1120-1180Mhz instead of 1266Mhz all the time a 1500Mhz would be a 25% higher clock speeds, thus about 25% GPU performance improvement if the Vram is clocked higher as well.
1
nic nac indeed I do NOT care the company I buy from, I care about performance for the price that get's the job done.
1
nic nac And usually my budget for a GPU is 300 euro as I'm only 17 years old and my dad only buys me everything that is NOT a PC, because he wants me to master programming and NOT game on a PC, so I have to get the money myself....
1
nic nac yeah a gtx 950 has no place running a 2k monitor. Problem is that I need many ports for all my older consoles and I basically need a TV with a monitor mode(low latency mode) with many ports and they cost a lot... so I'm sitting on 1900x1200 and 1680x1050 and I do NOT plan to move from it soon, no need really and I personally have NO problem with 720p and above.
1
Jaden S. yes, but keep in mind that CPUs are NOT made with ONLY gaming in mind. Intel and AMD shouldn't focus on making their architecture work for such a small part of the market.
