I don't think that that's a good choice cuz it eats more electricity and it heats more, which is bad cuz my i5 3570k at stock speed with the stock cooler ran at 70-80C and haswell consumes 87W which means more heat so you'll need an aftermarket cooler as well. Also you aren't gonna use the I gpu so again it's no use :) But if you like haswell go with it, still I don't think it's a good idea, cuz even an i5 2500k sandy bridge plays games as good as i5 ivy-bridge and i5 haswell :)

it's 2 gb and yes I run bf3 with 60fps+ since one of the newer drivers came out.You can see benchmarks with newer drivers where the hd7970ghz plays bf3 with 110-115 fps ultra 1080p(before 83 fps) and the gtx680 plays at 85 fps, thats cuz I think amd optimized good for bf3. I'm saying this cuz day 1 reviews say that my gpu runs bf3 with 38-40fps which isn't true anymore :)

the hd7850 is good I've played every game at 1080p ultra with 60fps+ except crysis 3 which you have to turn the AA down.Right now I'm with your resolution and I get 5-15 fps boost depending on the game, so yeah the hd7850 is perfect for me.And as jay said haswell is just useless the haswell i5 is only 5% better than i5 ivybridge and the it cost 100$ more and the motherboard of haswell is 150$ more expensive than the ivy-bridge z77 so take an i5 3570k if you are going intel :)

and it depends on the software and it's optimization as well.In jay's case he uses an software where intel is better than amd. In my case I use 3ds max(which isn't for video editing and rendering) and my fx6300 is a lot faster. Also in games there isn't difference between amd and intel. I've never steamed though. What I'm saying is that if you are on a budget then get amd cuz amd have much better processors at the low cost range :)

otherwise go with an i5 3570k or if you find an i5 2500k for 150-160$ this is the golden i5 :)
