  1.  @coolfred9083  Because people just love stereotypes, that's why... Driving skills have nothing to do with sex/gender and everything to do with practice and experience. It's the same here in my country, all the way in the Balkans... same mentality... that's like the cameras back in the day, where the man wouldn't let the woman take pictures as if it's a skill, but nowadays women take hundreds of more pictures than men daily. XD And the same goes for the manual transmissions, nothing special, I don't see why people think it's some kind of a special skill, it's not... All I've driven in the short time I've been a driver is manual and I'd love a more modern automatic(2005 or newer with 5 or more gears)... Manuals for civilian driving doesn't take almost any skill, just a little practice and muscle memory. Though statistically, most young women in the USA can't drive a manual, but the same goes for young men. XD

  2. Except that Professionals and Racers drive automatic or dog sequential transmissions which have no use of a clutch.

  6.  Bat Orgil  I'd say once you've learnt manual it's a child's play too, the gas and brake remain what is to be mastered and the steering if you plan on power sliding or drifting, you have to counter-steer the angle of the car. And maybe the clutch can be helpful if you are new to drifting/power sliding.

  8.  @natesm2893  yeah don't change it ever and see what happens... -_- And stay away from Jatco CVTs, their torque converter and dual clutch automatics are otherwise good.

  9.  @natesm2893  Manual transmission fluid needs to be changed every 3-4 years if you want to maintain your gearbox in good shape. Manual transmissions need to have their clutch changed every 30,000 to 50,000 km. Then you have to rebuild manuals more often than (modern)automatics. Overall the cost is about the same for the same amount of driving.

  15. On average Manuals don't last longer than modern automatics, unless all you do is drive on a highway, but even then they don't. Manuals need clutch changes every 30-50k kilometers, they need to be rebuilt more often too.

  19.  @reinbeers5322  and then again fast cars need them, because they accelerate so fast that with a manual no professional driver would be fast enough, even if you jack the driver full of cocaine.
