  2.  @d.b.cooper1  I have never gave a crap about buying expensive things, just because people like them or would potentially like me more... Since I became a software engineer the only thing that has inflated in my life is that now I pay rent, because of course and I go out 2 more times a month than I used to.

  6.  @rsb7608  I already live like the 25k person while earning 36k(keep in mind I'm in Eastern Europe so here salaries and cost of living are both lower). Hell I don't even have a car.

  7.  @underscore_d.t  You are missing the point. First you assume I have any morals. Second I want to retire as early as possible, third I'm not expensive. I don't like big houses and apartments and I'm not a fan of modern cars either. So I'm buying second hand for sure as there isn't much to miss out on with new cars to want them to be brand new. I don't like traveling at all, it kills me. The most expensive things I'd buy are the things needed for my hobbies. And they aren't expensive, I need a few hundred bucks a month worst case scenario. Now I would love to own a home that's for sure, so I'm pushing to earn more, because we live in a time where owning a home makes you a freaking millionaire and I don't want to be in debt to the banks for 35 years... you don't own what you owe money on.

I just don't see a reason to spend more money on rent, I don't want nor need a more expensive home. i need a bedroom, a living room and a kitchen, be it a separate kitchen or part of the living room. Nor do I need a more expensive car, hell right now I don't even need a car, I'm 10 minutes away from work by foot.
