  1. It would be interesting to see a ½-mile run. That would take on an entire new line of technologies -- everything from controlling the vehicles at near 700+ MPH, to braking (new parachute designs (multiple, timed deployments?)), new tire designs, etc. At what speed will tires explode from centrifugal force? But it would be a wild sight to see such vehicles keep going beyond a ¼-mile.
