If the passengers had known all this before getting into that submersible, not one of them would have gone down. "We cut corners, guys, we cut so many corners. Mainly in the area of the submersible's structural integrity, as we venture into the deepest depths." *Refund please*

Why is that significant? Also, the name onscreen doesn't have the capital H you put in, making your entire comment a confusing mess. Clear it up please.

Yes, the uploader does a great job compiling all the notable facts/pieces of testimony, in a world of hyper-sensationalism and clickbait bullshiz.

I agree. The only thing more shocking than this malpractice is that Rush himself died along with his diabolical submersible. I can easily imagine a sinister man on the LAND, twirling his mustache as the profits rolled in -- but to actually ride the thing? Amazing.

The diagram at 15:50 is worth looking at and reflecting upon.

@solareclipsetimer I will ask this though: Do we have any evidence that Rush said "Shuman and I will handle the engineering side of things" or JUST his word? Because there's definitely a motive to lie there.

@ Yes, he seems honest. It would just be nice to have more sources on that claim since it condemns a dead man unable to defend himself. For example, if Rush was alive and said Phil promised during his job application and interview process that he was absolutely the man for the job regarding all things engineering/structural, that's another kettle of fish. Supposing he was the one reassuring Rush before each trip out that "everything with the submersible design is fine, just fine". (Please note, I do not believe that to be the case. I accept that Rush was as reckless and foolish as they say.) However, that would leave Phil a huge incentive to lie during investigations, and while I'm not suggesting that he did lie, some more sources would be good just to support his account, and you seem to have a firm grasp on things so I asked.

@staciasmith5162 I'm not saying he was a hero. I'm saying he believed in his submersible enough to die in it.

Well the implosion wasn't deliberate, making it an accident. That's how words work sometimes. They mean things. They mean ACTUAL things. :)

The people who died in that implosion can console themselves in the afterlife, knowing their tragic deaths did at least result in a legendary comment on YouTube.
