Feel like the point is being lost when you call it a "fan" when it's acting as a "prop" as in creating lift (or low pressure) in front of the blades, not forcing air to the rear.. maybe a moot point

@Gottenhimfella no, the terms are not interchangeable. Helicopters for example are rotating wings that provide lift, not giant "fans" pushing air downward.

@Gottenhimfella also, jet engines produce Thrust in the form of exhaust, using an impeller to force compression, not propulsion; where props, or turboprops (which are just props powered by a turbine engine) generate lift in the same way as the helicopter blade, the wing, or a sail.
