  1. No, the atomic bomb attacks caused Japan to surrender. The strategic bombing campaign just made it harder to supply their war effort, not break their will to fight.

  2.  @John3.36  I do. And yet it was the threat of total annihilation the atomic bombs poised that forces them to surrender. Remember, the allies bombed Germany for almost 4 years day and night, yet they still put up a fight till Berlin fell. Japan was completely willing to fight to the last Japanese civilian, until the American atomic bomb made that pointless.
