  1. It’s a language thing. Europe and Asia have multiple borders with different languages. Another problem is a Red Cross on a blue background says “red” danger and “cross” don’t, it doesn’t say parking or stopping etc. it kinda says don’t go here, danger. Australia uses most of the US signs. Being a new country we usually look to what is best.

  2.  @AlexanderBurgers  imagine I’m not from Europe. None of those things are obvious unless I know the local rules. If I see a sign with a picture of a guy digging a hole, it doesn’t matter what language or the local road rules I know there is roadwork but a blue sign with a Red Cross is meaningless. If I saw that sign, Red Cross means “danger” or “stop” and the blue background is meaningless. As with everything, some things work some don’t.
