Pretty much. At the end of the day, Democracy is the worst form of government except for those that have been tried. People can criticise democracy all they want, but in the end it's still all we have that is worth a damn.

@liamjm9278 Because what might cause the fall of democracy, also applies to other forms of government. Anger the people enough, and those governments will fall under the pressure of the masses.
5
@JohnPeacekeeper It should be to both. The Jedi alone can't stop as effectively the Sith whitout help from the Republic. It was that bad with the Republic, imagine how badly it would have gone if they didn't have the Republic's resources.
2
Then that's the answer. Instead of promising 3 full meals, promise to arrive safely in exchange for 2 full meals a day. Of course, convincing politicians to be that forthright is the real challenge.
2
@GameFuMaster Politicians should be honest as well. Both cause the problem.
2
@liamjm9278 He doesn't need to say it. Governments fall when people aren't happy with their governments. And what leads them to vote for "stupid" things? Anger is one of the reasons. If you dislike someone hard enough, you will always vote for anything that opposes that person. Yes, I did.
2
Democracies are the worst form of government, except for those that have been tried. It doesn't matter if they end up failing, it's still preferable to fail after many decades, than to fail from the start like other government types do.

Obi Wan was in the right. Considering the alternative that happened afterwards. Better a corrupt Republic than a pure evil empire.
1
@danielchettiar5670 Those are Russia's own fault. Meddling or no meddling from NATO, Russia did meddle with Ukraine affairs, supporting separatist criminals, and had a puppet called Viktor in power in Ukraine before 2014. Ukraine got fed up with Russia, and responded accordingly.
1
@liamjm9278 No he doesn't. That's one of the reasons. Whetever you believe it to be a strawman or not, I'm right either way.
1
@liamjm9278 I'm not mad though. Who's inventing what now? That's your opinion. Afraid I don't see it that way. My counterargument is proper. You are free to agree to disagree.
1
@liamjm9278 Prove it. Lol, I'm not ranting. And you seem to don't like other opinions other than your own. I gave you a chance to agree to disagree, but you are too immature to even take that. As I should, because I said the truth.
1
@liamjm9278 Precisely. So where's your proof?
1
@liamjm9278 Mine is easy. History.
1
@liamjm9278 Yes, I've read it, and don't see how you proven otherwise. I already said it before, history. French Revolution ringing any bells? That's proof that the people will cause the government to collapse if pressed.
1
@ianyeager2893 Imagine compare democracy with the devil. Smh.
1
@erickanter Precisely. I would rather have democracy, even if it falls after some decades, than to have the alternative.
1
@HiArashi13 I think it's easier to find an example of a democracy that harms their citizens less than other forms of governments. I would name Portugal in that case. Our democracy harmed us far less than the dictatorship before 1974 did.
1
@HiArashi13 I see no issue with what I said. There's no need to track down. Saying democracy was less harmful than the dictatorship in Portugal is pretty much a fact. Anything remotely serious, like torture and death. Incarceration whitout torture is far less harmful, obviously. And that's fine. A country has the right to reject immigrants, if they lack the means to receive them. That kind of "harm" is justiable. No. That kind of measurement is flawed. A good government should also have morality superiority over other forms of government. It doesn't matter how good social and economic dynamics are, if the government is a dictatorship and thus, by default, evil.
1
@HiArashi13 It's not a matter of fanatism, it's a fact. It's not because it is. State police, torture, executions for merely speaking against their government, and in some cases invasion of other countries, which start wars. If that's not evil to you, then you clearly don't understand the difference between good and evil as I do.
1
@tomorrowneverdies567 Actions and intentions do. Good and evil is already set on stone, and can't be decided by anyone. True morality belongs to no one.
1
@tomorrowneverdies567 No. God already decided that, because God knows all. Our actions and intentions determine where in the moral spectrum we lie. People can't decide anything, it's already set on stone by God who knows best. You are confusing law with morality, it's not the same thing. Law is man made, morality is an absolute of this world, like death and time.
1
@tomorrowneverdies567 Their "morality" isn't theirs. Otherwise it's just religion not true morality. You mean atheist, that's usually what one calls it, but never mind that. Hardly. God knows what true morality is, and I by extension, know what is good and what is evil by the knowledge I possess. Any "moralities" that don't fit with that knowledge are fake and wrong. It doesn't matter. True morality is absolute, what they might have found acceptable in the past (like slavery), it was still wrong, no matter what time you live.
1
@tomorrowneverdies567 God. The one written with capital g. The only true god. True morality, is the morality that exists with or whitout humanity. As an example, even if humans didn't exist, but other sapient beings did, they too would be beholden to that standard. Because it encompasses everything. It trascends beliefs or laws. It doesn't matter if one believes "this is right" "this is wrong", true morality doesn't care about what one believes, as it's already set in stone. In short, true morality is unchangeable and always exists as long the universe exists.
1
@tomorrowneverdies567 That was a expression. I assume english isn't your native language. It means that it can't be changed, and that it's permanent.
1
@tomorrowneverdies567 God does, and so does anyone who learned from him and his worshippers. And even then, even if God didn't exist, we would still be able to learn the difference between good and evil over time. Just like how one can tell the difference between cold and heat.
1
@tomorrowneverdies567 What you mean? Morality is everything when it comes to living a life of decency. Those who don't, aren't worth their existance. As such, it's always worth discussing it to ensure that one is doing the right thing in the various dilemas that might surge in one's life.
1
@tomorrowneverdies567 Learn from God's teachings, and from the sins of others so that you don't make the same mistakes as them, that will tell you what is good and evil. Even now, you probably already know something about what is objectively good and what is objectively evil. If you somehow don't, then I blame your parents for not giving you the basics.
1
@tomorrowneverdies567 Bible, his worshippers, etc... Mind you however, that the bible has many wrong interpretations, and thus isn't the most reliable of sources. Anything that is evil or significantly wrong is a sin. I don't need to talk to him, as long as I have his knowledge. I know better than most people on what is right and what is wrong.
1
@tomorrowneverdies567 Good.
