A NATO whitout US would have it's advantages. The idiots from the east would no longer be able to use the argument of "NATO is just a puppet alliance to USA".

That's the problem right there, they should make better vows. Vow to stand for all those who are deserving of your loyalty and protection and vow to denounce your lord should he prove to be unworthy of your loyalty.

@Gadget-Walkmen They mean something more, they are proof of your virtue. You should forsake vows that go against virtue, for they have no meaning and no worth. Wich is why they are misguided and wrong. And he should have been praised for it, instead of criticised. He was a true knight. Evil people should be killed, whetever they are kings or not.

@Gadget-Walkmen Yes, wich was pretty wrong. There was an abudance of corruption and evil people back then.

@Gadget-Walkmen Then you simply break the one that's less important. I don't know any situations where you have to break vows to be a true knight, at least vows that have any value. A vow that forces you to obey an evil person has no value and should be broken whitout care.

@r------ It did. Corruption and evil still exist, but we were made more aware of it, and do far more to combat it. Back in the medieval ages, peasants couldn't even protest against their lords, even if they were wrong, they could do whatever they pleased and put them down if they revolted.
1
@r------ That's only in extreme cases, as they are far less common by comparison to the past. And here in Portugal, we never had that happen ever since the dictatorship regime fell in 1974. So I would say is very different.

@r------ Then isn't it it dangerous just to post something like that on the internet?
1
@r------ I see.

Unfortunately, most medieval knights didn't live up to their names, as they didn't care about chivalry. They were fakes.
