while there were great bands like led zepplin, pink floyd, jethro tull, etc back in the 60s and 70s, there were teen beat bands like david cassidy, the monkees, the archies, etc. i think the difference between today and back then is that the great bands today are underground bands that never get any radio play or exposure in the entertainment media whereas in the 70s, these great bands were the biggest in the world because they got the exposure and radio play.

it doesn't even sound catchy to me.

i like the stoned meadow of doom channel. they play a lot of really good bands from everywhere but mostly europe. i guess europe is making the best music right now.

the more underground stuff was good but pop in the 80s sounded terrible to me just like the pop of today. i like the the era of 67-75 as when the best music was being made.

pop music is like a cheap fast food restaurant. if kids grow up eating mcdonalds then they tend to like it and want mcdonalds hamburgers and fries but at the same time, there are other restaurants out there that are a lot better than mcdonalds that the kids don't know about. if the kids ever starting eating at real restaurants and eating real home-ade dishes then they would start to think that mcdonalds hamburgers are crappy. same thing with pop music and the underground stuff with real musicians and creative tunes and bands that do see what they do as art.

@paul brown what was never mentioned in the video was that it started getting crappier when producers started getting involved in making albums. the more involved they got, the crappier music became. there was a time when producers would sign bands and in the contract the only real stipulation that they made was to have a certain number of albums made within a certain number of years and that was all the producers had to do with bands when they made their albums in the studios. coincidentally that was when bands made the best albums.

@iz2333 wrong. i had a long drawn out rebuttal that got erased before i could post it but you are in fact flat out wrong.

@iz2333 i would really love to read your insane rant but i an unable to because of some virus or whatevever.... i still do think that you are stark raving mad though if it will make you feel any better lolr

there's a lot of madison avenue tricks and gimmicks too being used. plus if all they play is katy perry and lady gaga then that's all most people will ever know is out there. producers don't like bands that they can't control and they can't control all of these good underground bands and so most people get stuck with the pop music of today and think they have to like that or nothing at all.

do you ever listen to the stoned meadow of doom channel?
1
you should check out the stoned meadow of doom channel. they have all sorts of metal from doom, stoner, psychedelic, etc. most of it is really good too.

the thing that they all had in common is that they didn't have producers sticking their noses into their music and forcing them to.........they had the freedom to do whatever they wanted. if they wanted to make a 20 minute song that was mostly instrumental then they did it. today producers will tell them no and condense it into 3 minutes. that was the first thing that lead to music getting worse and worse until we got what we have now.

if the music is good then that alone should make it marketable. i think the root of the problem is producers sticking their noses into the studios and taking over the making of albums. back when producers stayed away and let the bands do whatever they wanted was when the best albums were made.

it's kind of creepy with the way they use it too. i wouldn't want to look at any love interest as a baby. lol

i still don't get how this crap sells. it sounds like crap to me and there's no madison avenue tricks that work on me to robotically get me to think it sounds good.
