Dylan Lytle is west virginia opening up to trying to attract more investors in other industries to come in and set up shop?

according to the information from this video if it is really true, much of the reason for the loss of coal miner's jobs has to do with the coal being depleted to a low level and machines being used in place of laid off coal miners. it looks like there is no other alternative except for west virginia to try to continue to transition to some other form of industry or industries in order to get back on its feet again.

wigster600 how did margaret thatcher and tony blair ever get elected? speaking of margaret thatcher what do you think about what she did to the coal mining industry in the UK?

STDrepository we have a good system. that's not the problem. the problem is that the rich bankers and corporations are buying the politicians and making the important decisions that seem to adversely affect us all.
3
Forpulet Tilfældigt when the people who made the system the way it was did so, they never intended for the wealthy elite to come in and bankroll the elected politicians. the foundation of what we have is a good one and we have no need to tear it down. what we need to do is pass a 28th amendment and add on to our bill of rights that allows us to make it illegal for rich corporations and bankers to bankroll a politician's "election campaign" as a start in order to keep them from controlling the actions of the elected politicians.

it's not that simple. life isn't like a hollywood comedy film where the main character gets fired from his job, has very short adventure and then get a new job that pays a lot more that he enjoys more than his last job or else gets his old job back with a promotion and a raise. losing your job and trying to find a new job is far more stressful than that. some people have been known to commit suicide because of the stress.
2
StrategicGathering what things could potentially happen that could cause a shift back to coal and return jobs to coal miners?
2
the billionaire oligarchs in the coal and oil industry today are and have been doing all they can to try to stop this from ever happening. if it wasn't for them, the transition would've probably almost been completed by now. i hate to say it but the eventual transition looks like its going to be a lot harder on the people who depended on it for their livelihoods before things start to get better for them.
2
they've already covered ebola and will cover it again i'm sure. this story is on the growing pains that west virginia is experiencing in having to transition from a state that depended entirely on coal mining to trying to figure out a new alternative. vice does stories just like this in places that most people never even think of doing. this is actually a typical story for them.

Michael Jonnes only a very small percentage of hillbillies in the usa think that the "moozlims are gonna take over." don't group them in with the rest of us normal americans please.
1
Leslie Justice it sounds as though wyoming is on its way to having the problems that west virginia already is experiencing. since west virginia is the state where shit already appears to have hit the fan, the focus would be more on west virginia instead of wyoming.
1
i'm guessing that there are other nations who have been through something just like what west virginia is experiencing right now and a solution could be to look into that and learn from other countries.
1
i don't know the answer to this but are there any other countries who have been through something like this who had to transition from coal to something else to save a region of their nation economically? my guess would be yes and if so then west virginia could get some ideas from them. i don't know if that would mean implementing ideas that would be considered the ever taboo word SOCIALISM or not but they might want to look into what other nations have done because there might be a solution for them there.
1
that's because foreigners don't care or usually know what our domestic problems are. they look at what he has done internationally and some either think that he is at least a little better than bush or no different than bush. they don't care about whether or not he lowers or raises our taxes or what his stance is on fucking gay marriage or abortion or any of those non-topics as far as the rest of the world is concerned. they only care about what he does that has an impact on the world.

mahadmz4 uhhh saving the banks was a monumentally disasterous thing. that is one of his black marks if you look at the results of it now and how it looks like it will probably cause even worse problems down the road.

captainsaucer there's nothing socialist about obama or the democratic party. that's all just tea party propaganda that is spewed and repeated over again to get people to think that he is a socialist. "4 legs gooood. 2 legs baaaaad." from the book "animal farm." i can think of plenty of things to criticize obama on but you all have to come back to reality and quit calling him a socialist.
1
Jack Vo the world watches vice news and they are calling us retarded inbred hicks because of people like you making statements like that. go scroll down a little and watch the latest vice news on what is happening in kobane and peddle that "obumber is a moozlim terrorist borned in aferca" shit to the predominately muslim commentators and see what they have to say to you about that. rofl.that would be hysterical to see their responses to that.

Frank John are you being serious or are you mocking the tin foil hat wearing morons? who cares if he had a couple of friends who were toying with the ideology of communism back when they were in college. associates? if you want to talk about shady associates look at the psychopaths bush was appointing. one of them was a guy that he chose to run as his vice president and there were other associates of his that ended up rotting in prison until they died for massive fraud and pilfering of peoples 401k funds. eating dinner at the house of a fellow college professor that teaches in the same department doesn't make someone a radical communist. maybe you are joking here but just in case i thought that i would put that down.
1
TheRetiredtrucker republicans/democrats? all the same thing and much of your complaints about obama were policies supported by the GOP before and secretly during the obama administration. if you think that electing a few republicans is going to change anything then you are fooling yourself. things would get worse if that were to happen with no change in how things are done.

Connor Null bush jr. was the worst president on foreign policy. because of him, many more nations and people in the world hate the usa government. obama just hasn't done things all that different then before. do you want the whole world to hate us all and see us as an imperialistic, bully nation? i call that a president who is weak on foreign policy who would give that image off to the world.
1
StrategicGathering actually i know quite a lot about international relations and in my opinion bush was far worse than obama. obama gets a "c" in my opinion and bush gets a "d-". how many courses in college did you take on international relations? how much research and reading on how the whole diplomatic process works have you done? i've spent years studying this and believe me, bush and his guys were the worst that i have ever seen or read about. do you want me to school you on what good and bad diplomatic relations with other nations looks like?

StrategicGathering neither did obama. what happened was that russia started to solve some of their problems when the turn of the century came around and putin happened to be bitter at the usa and not want any real peaceful relations with the usa because of past and current international policy. the threat that putin poses is the possibility of going back into previously held territories of russia and taking over via proxy government. that is really only a threat to international corporations and the EU and NATO. while bush was busy screwing up iraq and turning the middle east into a more chaotic place idiotically thinking that he could turn iraq into a "democracy" that lets corporations move in and set up shop which anybody who did their research like me could've not only told him that it would fail but also tell him exactly how it was going to fail, putin and mevded were making their own plans of retaking old territory. time and resources were wasted over there. obama spent his first term mostly focusing on the middle east because under the circumstances that he had inherited, that was the region that needed the most attention. there really wasn't much that any usa president could do about putin except object to what he was doing and say that you don't like it. what would you have done? bomb moscow in a completely unprovoked attack back in 2009 or 10? how would you have handled the situation in ukraine that went on all year long? if obama appeared weak then it was because he was coming from a weak position with the usa being 18 trillion dollars in debt and with the whole world knowing that the usa wasn't going to send any troops to ukraine. diplomatically speaking, he had one arm tied behind his back there. the whole redline thing was a mistake but i'm glad that he changed his mind and backed down though. you all are making a mountain out of a mole hill though. obama backing down there did not in fact send a message that you can do whatever you want and the usa is only bluffing whenever they threaten to do something to punish you. anybody who thinks otherwise knows nothing about international relations. that's just being simple-minded and ignorant to believe that. as far as his handling of the arab spring, he should've been more prepared for it when it happened. he also should've made our position clear with the egyptians that the usa's policy with egypt was and what they wanted it to continue to be was for egypt to continue it's treaty that it had with israel and for the trade agreements with the usa would also continue and if it meant accepting a muslim brotherhood member or general sissi then so be it. as far as the whole libyan involvement? lol. he was doing what any right wing president would've done. qadaffi wanted to move from using the dollar to the gold standard and that's what set the world off against qadaffi. they blundered there in creating an anarchic state there. the critics who say that obama has been "weak" when it comes to foreign policy are shills for the military industrial complex and you can quote me on that one. the more aggressive the usa gets with the world and the more the usa pisses off the world, the better the business is for the people working with the MID. who do you think funds people like lindsey graham and john maccain? all of this war mongering talk is a scam. i'm really just scratching the surface on all of these topics but i can go into greater detail for you if you like. on a side note, wake up and learn about the MID scam and the propaganda used that is designed to keep more tax payer money flowing into the system.

this story here i suppose explains the real reason why the koch brothers have been fighting so hard against obama since he has been president. it would be nice if they quit running ads about how what these industries are doing isn't hurting the environment the way that 99% of the scientists say that it is hurting it though.
1
YorktownUSA meanwhile the koch brothers push for bought out congressmen in the south to subtly bring back segregation in the school systems.
1
Spencer Chudyk like the video said, a lot of these jobs that coal miners have been losing are being lost to machines that the company uses in place of the coal miners.
1
***** i don't think the people have any other ideas that would be viable alternatives for the loss of their jobs and that is why most of them support the coal industry. i can think of a few obvious ones but they are so obvious that i'm sure that west virginia has already been trying them. it sounds like people in west virginia are stuck between a rock and a hard place.
1
interesting story.
