StrategicGathering neither did obama.  what happened was that russia started to solve some of their problems when the turn of the century came around and putin happened to be bitter at the usa and not want any real peaceful relations with the usa because of past and current international policy.  the threat that putin poses is the possibility of going back into previously held territories of russia and taking over via proxy government.  that is really only a threat to international corporations and the EU and NATO.  while bush was busy screwing up iraq and turning the middle east into a more chaotic place idiotically thinking that he could turn iraq into a "democracy" that lets corporations move in and set up shop which anybody who did their research like me could've not only told him that it would fail but also tell him exactly how it was going to fail, putin and mevded were making their own plans of retaking old territory.  time and resources were wasted over there.  obama spent his first term mostly focusing on the middle east because under the circumstances that he had inherited, that was the region that needed the most attention.  there really wasn't much that any usa president could do about putin except object to what he was doing and say that you don't like it.  what would you have done?  bomb moscow in a completely unprovoked attack back in 2009 or 10?  how would you have handled the situation in ukraine that went on all year long?  if obama appeared weak then it was because he was coming from a weak position with the usa being 18 trillion dollars in debt and with the whole world knowing that the usa wasn't going to send any troops to ukraine.  diplomatically speaking, he had one arm tied behind his back there.  the whole redline thing was a mistake but i'm glad that he changed his mind and backed down though.  you all are making a mountain out of a mole hill though.  obama backing down there did not in fact send a message that you can do whatever you want and the usa is only bluffing whenever they threaten to do something to punish you.  anybody who thinks otherwise knows nothing about international relations.  that's just being simple-minded and ignorant to believe that.  as far as his handling of the arab spring, he should've been more prepared for it when it happened. he also should've made our position clear with the egyptians that the usa's policy with egypt was and what they wanted it to continue to be was for egypt to continue it's treaty that it had with israel and for the trade agreements with the usa would also continue and if it meant accepting a muslim brotherhood member or general sissi then so be it.  as far as the whole libyan involvement? lol. he was doing what any right wing president would've done.  qadaffi wanted to move from using the dollar to the gold standard and that's what set the world off against qadaffi.  they blundered there in creating an anarchic state there.  the critics who say that obama has been "weak" when it comes to foreign policy are shills for the military industrial complex and you can quote me on that one.  the more aggressive the usa gets with the world and the more the usa pisses off the world, the better the business is for the people working with the MID.  who do you think funds people like lindsey graham and john maccain?  all of this war mongering talk is a scam.  i'm really just scratching the surface on all of these topics but i can go into greater detail for you if you like.  on a side note, wake up and learn about the MID scam and the propaganda used that is designed to keep more tax payer money flowing into the system.
